Four ways to lower your energy bill
Electricity costs more and more, so everyone is looking for ways to reduce energy consumption levels at home and at work. Replacing incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LEDs is just the beginning. Solutions from the Kanlux SMART series, as well as those providing the possibility of remote programming of almost all electrically powered devices, can help reduce electricity consumption in your house. How? Read about it here!

1. Programmers
If you use electricity to heat your home, you are certainly planning to implement cost-saving solutions. What to do to make electric heaters automatically reduce power or turn off completely when you fall asleep and raise room temperature again an hour before you wake up? A popular solution is the Kanlux CYBER TM-6 time programmer. It is a socket adapter with a 24-hour digital programmer that allows to programme turning on and off of any device, from Kanlux DAIBO LED desk lamp to a home cinema. It allows to plan working hours of any electrical device with an accuracy of one minute and to store up to 8 different settings, e.g. for each day of the week. Owing to the easy-to-read LCD display, it takes literally no time to configure and view the current settings, in addition and the unit's internal memory backup works for up to 100 hours after a power outage - so you won't have to reprogram the unit after a power outage or change of a socket.

2. Mobile solutions
Until recently, programmers reigned supreme, but the rules of the game have changed with mobile solutions for controlling power supply of electrical devices. They have entered a new era due to devices from Kanlux SMART ecosystem, which It includes intelligent solutions for self-implementation, thanks to which you can control electrical devices at home with your smartphone. It is possible to turn on the heating before occupants return home, or to turn on a light at any point in a dwelling, even when you are in the other hemisphere. Bedroom temperature when falling asleep should be 22 degrees and during the night it should be 18 degrees, how then do you leave bed at 7:00 in the morning without freezing? All you have to do is connect the heater to a socket via S AD GN 10A PM adapter beforehand, then set your desired turn-on time in the app on your phone and the rest will do itself. At a scheduled time, the temperature in the bedroom will begin to rise, and you will get up in the morning in comfort. You can programme the heater to turn off in the morning when you run the coffee machine in the kitchen, and turn it back on when you open the door of your house in the afternoon. All Kanlux SMART devices can be connected to each other in action sequences or controlled by phone without moving from the sofa.
The adapter also features a built-in weekly clock with calendar, random functions and a countdown function. This allows to programme different devices to turn on and off at specific times, even when you are not at home. Plus, the adapter has a function to measure the energy consumption of the device connected to it. This gives an idea of which devices in your home are the most energy-hungry and can limit their use when you are not at home.
3. Integrated motion detectors
Still, heating is only part of your house electricity consumption. Lights that illuminate corridors, vestibules and stairways account for a significant share of the electricity bill. The latter can be fitted with Kanlux APUS LED PIR step luminaires, with integrated motion sensors. As soon as a household member approaches the edge of the steps, they will activate the lighting or part of it and leave it on as long as there is any movement in the detectors' zone. Similar solution can be implemented at any point in the house that does not require continuous lighting for example, in toilets, hallways or storage rooms.
In corridors or bathrooms you can fit PIRES ECO DL-25O plafond with replaceable light source, which has increased protection against moisture (IP44) and its sensor works at a distance of 9 metres. In deep cupboards or wardrobes it is possible to install ready-made LEDS SET strips, which are battery-powered and have integrated movement sensors. This way, you won't have to turn on the overhead light when taking things out of the wardrobe. Moreover, you can choose your own battery or rechargeable power supply. The strips will sufficiently illuminate the furniture surface and electricity consumption will be minimal.
4.Stand-alone motion detectors
Kanlux ZONA JQ stand-alone motion detectors will be useful wherever light is needed frequently but only for a moment, both inside and outside the house. It is a universal motion detector with a maximum detection range of up to 10 metres. You can adjust the lighting duration and intensity at which the sensor turns on the light yourself, adapting it to the parameters of natural light. It means that the sensor will activate the connected lights when it is dark, and on a sunny day the sensor will not turn on the lights unnecessarily. This will reduce electricity consumption and increase the lifespan of your lighting. You can successfully use them outdoors, but also in places where we often forget to turn off the light - such as dressing room.
Kanlux ALER JQ-30-B sensors are sufficient to ensure lighting of the nearest house surroundings. The small device with minimalist design detects movement from a distance of up to 12 metres and has an operating angle of 165°. You can adjust the lighting time yourself and it can range from 8 seconds to 5 minutes, and the high protection class (IP44) makes it suitable for fitting in places exposed to adverse weather conditions.
5. Free electricity
Having a garden, we also want it to be illuminated. The bigger the garden, the more light we need to make it look good. To be economical, garden lighting should meet several conditions. It should be LED, have a movement sensor and the electricity should be free. Yes, there are lights like this - you don't even need to have wiring set up for them and they're not battery operated lights, just real garden lighting. Kanlux SOLCA Solar LED light fitting series stores solar energy during the day to light up the space around your house at night. You can also choose from 3 lighting levels and enjoy free energy all year round.
Investment in LED light sources, Kanlux SMART devices, motion or dusk sensors will pay for themselves within a few months, depending on the size of the house and current electricity consumption. Additionally, comfort of being able to walk into a heated house after a long journey, waking up in a warm bedroom in the winter, or the light that comes on when we need it is a good that cannot be calculated.
