5 tips on how to plan lighting arrangements for a small flat? - 1

Bright colours, few accessories and a large number of light sources are the most important rules for decorating small flats. The right lighting is crucial, which means both maximum daylight (and therefore not too many window decorations) and a suitable, even distribution of light points. They should make the rooms look bigger whilst adding depth to them. Recessed ceiling luminaires, such as Kanlux STOBI surface-mounted spotlights, are a great solution. Their additional advantage is the ability to set up the light beam in different directions, and with a  minimalist design, they are suitable for any arrangement.

Ceiling luminaires with adjustable lighting direction, like the Kanlux ALOR DTL-B, also look great in narrow passageways. They are available in a wide range of colours, while the matt steel frame, compact and minimalist design make them fit well in almost any interior style. They are a much better choice than pendant lamps, which tend to visually lower rooms and, in standard-height flats, sometimes even make it difficult to pass freely underneath them.

Narrow spaces can also be optically widened by using LED tapes, such as Kanlux LEDS SET. Quite often, they are installed in the space between walls and ceilings, clearly adding depth. Easy installation and eye-catching design are the main reasons why they are often chosen for small flats. An advantage of Kanlux LEDS SETs is battery power supply, thanks to which we do not need to worry about running additional electric installation.

Luminaires that direct the light to the ceiling are also a good solution for small rooms. For the best effect, the ceiling should have a light colour, and you should be able to adjust the light colour to suit your current needs. The standard lamps with open-top shades combined with Kanlux SMART RGB bulbs will work well here. Interestingly, the bulbs in the range can be controlled with a mobile app, using 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, as well as voice commands thanks to the Google Assistant. Like many light sources of the Kanlux SMART series, they have the following features: dimming, smooth change of light colour (CCT) and colour. With a palette of 16 million colours at your disposal, it's easy to change the dominant colour in a room and subsequently - the whole mood. With schedules and the ability to group with other SMART devices, you can always adapt your home lighting to your current needs. With the range of colour temperatures from 2700 to 6500 K, this is a universal solution, giving a unique character even to small interiors.

We'd also like to remind you that wall lamps are also quite popular again. Luminaire models, with lights directed at narrow walls of rooms, make them look wider and the interior becomes much cosier. A good example of such a solution is Kanlux SEMPRA. With the original mounting strip for the lampshades, each of the models in the series can be installed both on the ceiling and on the walls, which gives you great freedom in creating your lighting arrangements. Importantly, even luminaires with 4 light sources can be mounted on them vertically.

If you like to decorate your walls with graphics or photos, it's important to make sure that they are properly highlighted with lighting. Wall lamps with adjustable light beam direction, such as Kanlux LAURIN, are perfect for this purpose. Such a solution will bring some depth to the illuminated place, optically pushing it back a little, so that it does not overwhelm us, but at the same time attracts the attention of your guests.

A great way of completing the look of the flat designed in this way is introducing movable light points in the form of small standard lamps. A good example is Kanlux DAIBO LED. They fantastic for lightening up workspaces and kitchen worktops, and can be used as additional side lighting or a night table lamp when it's time to rest.
