What lighting should you choose for modern interiors?
Interiors decorated in a modern style are not only very aesthetically pleasing, but also functional and convenient. How can you choose the right lighting to emphasise their strengths? Read this article.

What are the characteristics of modern interiors?
A modern flat is usually spacious (open kitchen combined with dining and living room), functional, minimalist and decorated in bright colours. Orderliness, symmetry and simplicity are qualities that come to mind. At the same time, this does not mean that modern design is boring. Interesting forms, textures, accents and details complete the whole. The choice of lighting depends on your preferences and specific needs, but there are a few rules of thumb to follow right from the planning stage.
Main lighting
In the living room, classic ceiling-mounted lights will work well. They are discreet and elegant. The Kanlux RIFA LED is certainly worth your attention. The fabric lampshade (4 colour versions to choose from) in combination with the original but subdued colours will not only be a functional lamp, but also a decoration. Choose a neutral colour of LED bulbs, as it resembles natural light during the day and is the best solution for the living room or dining room.

Wall lighting
It is difficult to image a modern interior without wall lamps. Elegant white wall lamps from the SEMPRA Kanlux collection available with 1, 2, 3 or 4 light sources will work well in a hallway, dressing room or by any shelves and niches. They can be ceiling-mounted, but also wall-mounted, vertically and horizontally. This gives plenty of freedom for arrangement and possible changes.
Put modern stair lighting also on the wall; it's not just a matter of aesthetics, but also of convenience and safety. Using it at night, you don't have to light up the whole house, just your way downstairs or upstairs. The discreet Kanlux ERINUS LED lamps last for up to 30,000 hours and are virtually unnoticeable thanks to their very thin fixture. You can choose the colour, the colour of the light and the direction of the light individually.
Bathroom lighting
Take note of the degree of protection first. It should be high (minimum IP44), as this prevents water and dust from entering the lamp. To match the décor, choose downlights or fixed downlights in the colour of the ceiling for the main light. They produce a lot of light and are not very visible.
A lamp over the mirror, useful for morning make-up, for example, will also be important in the bathroom. The Kanlux ASTEN LED IP44 model already has built-in light sources based on SMD LEDs. They can last for up to 25,000 hours. Their simple, linear design will work particularly well with square and rectangular mirrors.
Auxiliary lighting
Modern interiors are associated with neutral or cold light colours. This does not mean that warm tones should be completely avoided. 2500-3000K bulbs can be installed in table or floor lamps, for example. They will work especially well in spaces intended for rest and relaxation. Opt for Kanlux ST64 A filament light sources. These are outstandingly decorative LED bulbs with a very warm light colour (1800K). Both the "LED filament" and the amber glass, but also the ring at the cap of the light source itself, are decorative. With them, you will conjure up a warm, relaxing atmosphere. An added bonus is that the honey-coloured bulb can be unscrewed from the rest of the lamp, in which case you get the illusion that the bulb consists of just the glowing rods.
Smart lighting
Modern design is not only about looks, but also about functionality. If you like technological innovations and want to use them, you will certainly be interested in Kanlux SMART. It is a simple way to control lighting and other devices in your home with a single app.
With Kanlux SMART you can:
- create groups and control the lighting in specific rooms,
- set up scenarios based on the "If this then that" method, e.g. switch on the main light every day when the sun goes down,
- control the lighting with your voice (Amazon Alexa, Google Home),
- set scenarios to automatically switch the lights on and off when you leave the house unattended for long periods.
It is a very convenient solution that requires no additional renovations or installation specialists. You can do everything yourself. Simply screw the SMART bulbs into the lamps you already have in your home and configure them using the free app.

Remote control of devices, automation of lighting with the possibility of creating any scenario or light bulbs with the option of changing the colour and intensity of the light are a definite sign of modernity

Lamps are not only essential fixtures but also part of the décor. Lighting has a major impact on the perception of a room. In a minimalist interior, it plays a dual role – adding character to the space and establishing areas for relaxation and activity. Think this through beforehand and enjoy your beautiful flat for a long time to come.
