How to light plants in the garden?
Roses, tulips, trimmed shrubs, fruit trees... The garden is the place where the most beautiful plant specimens bloom in spring and summer. It is important that they are clearly visible, whatever the time of day. How to light them? Read this article to find out.

Lighting plan
To properly light every element in your garden, opt for a variety of lamps. Ground-mounted posts, directional lights or decorative spheres will work well. It all depends on specific preferences and the positioning of the individual elements in the space.
Before choosing your lamps, be sure to consider how you plan to arrange the different zones in your garden. The electrical installation plan is also important – how will you connect the lighting? Have you ensured that the cables are properly sheathed? Can you adjust the right voltage? If you are not a professional on the subject then be sure to ask an electrician for help. Present him with your requirements and vision so that he can select and offer you the most optimal solutions.

Tree lighting
Trees can be a great decoration and protection from the sun. To give your garden a mysterious atmosphere, opt for lighting them from below. Ground-mounted lamps are great for this purpose. How far away from the tree should they be mounted? This depends on their height.
If the plant is:
● up to 2 metres height – place the lamp 1 metre away from it,
● 4 metres – place the lamp 2 metres away from it,
● 6 metres – place the lamp 4 metres away from it,
A warm bulb colour is a good idea if you want to achieve a romantic and atmospheric effect (especially with large trees with a dense crown). If, on the other hand, you want to bring out the detail and the tree is not too lush, use cold light, which will give a more modern effect. Kanlux VORA is a good choice – it is characterised by a spike inserted into the ground, allowing you to change the arrangement in a simple way. Made of solid and aesthetically pleasing material, it will serve you for years. It also has a head with a flange to limit light scattering. The IP 44 rating protects against dust and water, so you can confidently mount it outdoors.
Flower lighting
Flowers are often the pride of the garden. Colourful compositions deserve to be seen at all times. When lighting these plants, it is worth choosing a light that has the ability to adjust the direction of light. This is because plants grow – it is their nature – therefore, the light that illuminates the inflorescence today may only illuminate the stem with leaves in a month's time. Thus, it is important to be able to direct the lighting in the desired direction. Kanlux USTI will work well in all places that require accent lighting. The movable head allows the light to be adjusted and pointed in any direction.
Lawn lighting
A garden is not only individual plants but also large lawn areas. Spot lights may not be up to the task as they do not provide enough light and the composition appears empty. If you want to illuminate the darkness, all kinds of lamps of larger sizes will work well. Kanlux STONO are stone-imitating light balls - at first glance, they do not stand out from the vegetation and blend in with the surroundings of shrubs and rockeries. With diameters ranging from 20 to 78 cm, any arrangement can be created. They look great both individually and in groups. You can embed them in the ground with spikes, and they are easy to move around thanks to the long 3-metre power cable. You can use single luminaires, but also create a composition of several light balls of different sizes.
Path lighting
Paths in the garden are some of the key points. Their lighting not only has a decorative function but also a practical one. Two things are essential – proper placement and a motion sensor. It is best to choose posts, placed about 1.5 metres apart (depending on the power of the light sources). They should form a single line and not leave dark spaces along the way. Along the paths, we usually opt for low growing vegetation, but here let's choose posts. Depending on the type of plants, we can choose shorter (30 cm), medium (50 cm) or those slightly taller ones (80 cm).
When lighting paths, the lampshade is important – either directed downwards or dimmed; it will provide sufficient light without being blinding. Kanlux LAVEN is an exceptionally elegant choice – a simple design based on a smoked lampshade connected to the rest of the luminaire by a diagonal line. Their unique style is emphasised by filament LED light sources – especially in a warm colour. They will suit any type of garden. Choose a height of 50 cm or 80 cm, depending on your preference.
As you can see, there are many possibilities for lighting the garden. Choose the right lamps depending on its size, the arrangement of the space and the style you like. Also pay attention to the safety and parameters of the garden luminaires. With these details, you will enjoy your garden throughout the whole year.
