Industrial style interior lighting. 5 practical tips

Raw concrete, steel girders and industrial windows - these are the first associations with industrial style interiors. At first glance, they do not seem very cozy but you can give them style and charm with the help of properly selected lighting. There are just a few rules to consider. Read about the most important ones!

The popularity of industrial style interiors in our country has been growing since the early 1990s. At that time, a number of spaces from decommissioned industrial plants appeared on the real estate market. Initially, they were mostly adapted as offices. In the last two decades, they have created a sensation as loft-style apartments. What do you need to keep in mind to ensure that they make a dazzling impression regardless of their function?

1. Have the courage to experiment! 

It is a common belief that luminaires decorating industrial interiors should be kept in subdued colours because they are compatible with raw brick or concrete walls. However, it should be considered that a touch of craziness can incredibly liven up such surfaces.

 A stunning effect can be achieved by consistent use of a selected style convention of luminaires and using ... Kanlux L60  lighting tapes of one distinct colour (in aluminium profiles) as a decorative element.

2. Rail systems and projectors

In modern loft-style apartments, metal, raw lamps work best as the main lighting but maybe you should consider choosing projectors, such as Kanlux ACORD ATL1? These are integrated rail-mounted luminaires. The high level of real colour rendering and elimination of glare makes them ideal for graphic design studios as well as kitchens. They can constitute the optimal lighting for large colourful elements, such as paintings or posters. 

3. Pendant lamps that divide into individual areas

An industrial interior without partitions is, theoretically, easy to arrange. However, it often needs to be divided into areas for resting, preparing and eating meals, as well as working. It is with the help of lighting in the form of pendant lamps, such as ALGO GU10 PO-B, that they can be sectioned off most easily. Thanks to an adjustable cord, we can optically lower the usually very high ceilings in former factories. Industrial pendant lamps catch the eye, so they are not only an element that illuminates but also one that decorates. In addition, thanks to interchangeable light sources, we can change the colour and intensity of lighting, depending on changes in the function of the place.

4. Luminaires that create atmosphere

Appropriately placed side lamps, for example hung over a dining or social area, create a cosy atmosphere. They also have to be kept in a style consistent with the interior design, which is why Kanlux ASIL luminaires are a good choice. Thanks to their shape, they create an interesting lighting effect on walls as the light spreads not only up and down, but also comes out through a specially designed gap in the casing.

5. Directional lighting

Wall lamps, which have remained forgotten for many years, are back in favour again. Placed above a work or reading area, they provide excellent visibility. Wall lamps that properly illuminate selected areas are, for example, Kanlux REKA LED lamps. It is not only a metal, raw luminaire that will perfectly fit the loft atmosphere. It also offers the possibility of adjusting the light beam (narrower or wider, directed in any direction) thanks to upper and lower flaps in the luminaire. They can be placed both on the wall above a desk and used as bed headboard lighting.

To sum up, even with a minimalist design, a loft-style room can become cozy and elegant thanks to properly selected lighting. It is worth giving vent to fantasy, choosing unusual sources of light, because raw industrial interiors work perfectly with extravagant luminaires in unusual arrangements.

Information about processing personal data (GDPR)

The Controller of your personal data is Kanlux S.A. with its registered office in Radzionków (41-922) at ul. Objazdowa 1-3, (“the Controller”).

1. Contact details of the Controller: ado@kanlux.pl.
2. Personal data are processed for the purpose of fulfilling the Controllers legitimate interest in the execution of the agreement, asserting claims related to the business activity conducted and - in the case of voluntarily granted consent - conducting direct marketing of its own products or services
3. Personal data will be stored in the IT environment, which means that data may also be temporarily stored and processed, e.g. in back-up copies, as part of tests of IT systems or procedures aimed at detecting irregularities or protecting against fraud or attacks, in order to ensure the security and proper functioning of IT systems.
4. The recipients of the data will be entities supporting the Controller in the scope of IT services, transport services and subsidiaries and affiliates of Kanlux S.A. and its permanent commercial representatives having their registered offices in the territory of a Member State of the European Union, as well as lawyers and auditors.
5. The Controller does not intend to transfer the data to a third country or an international organisation.
6. Personal data will be kept for the duration of the agreement, and after its termination - for the period required for the performance of accounting or tax duties (for their duration) and the period necessary for the expiration or limitation of any claims arising from the agreement, and in the case of consent to the processing of personal data for marketing purposes - until the withdrawal of consent.
7. You have the right to:
a) Demand access to data;
b) Demand that your data be rectified if they have been incorrectly saved or if they have changed;
c) Demand the removal of data if the legal basis for their processing no longer applies;
d) Demand the limitation of the processing if, in your opinion, they are incorrect (for a period enabling the Controller to check the accuracy of the data) or pending the processing of your objection, or if the Controller no longer needs the personal data but you need them in order to establish, pursue or defend your claims;
e) Raise objections to the processing of personal data if they are no longer necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the Controller;
f) File a complaint with the supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of personal data violates the law.;
8. The provision of data related to the implementation of the agreement is voluntary but necessary for the purpose of the implementation of the agreement. Providing data for marketing purposes is voluntary.
9. No automated decisions, including through profiling, are taken based on your personal data.
10. Once the processing of your personal data for the original purpose has been completed, the data will not be processed for any other purpose.
