5 tips on how to prepare lighting for painting and renovation work
Amateur painting, construction works and cleaning up afterwards are serious challenges. How do you protect items you care about from getting dirty? How do you illuminate your work space? What helps to avoid extra effort when cleaning? Here are a couple of practical tips that will certainly come in handy.

2. Carefully cover ceiling-mounted spotlight fittings and other elements embedded in the surface
Ceiling-mounted spotlight fitting, such as Kanlux ELICEO, must be removed. The wires should be carefully covered with plastic bags. Taping them on the surface of the plasterboard does not guarantee that paint and dust will not get under the cover and be difficult to remove later. Covering the light socket holes will certainly help a little. There will be less dust above the surface of the board, which can later penetrate the luminaire. If possible, take the opportunity to gently vacuum the surface between the ceiling and the board. Such an occasion will not happen anytime soon.
3. Rent or buy a professional floodlight
The idea of getting a floodlight such as the Kanlux STATO LED may seem like overkill until the day of renovation arrives. Neither artfully covered floor lamps nor a battery of LED torches can replace professional equipment with a sturdy structure and IP65 protection rating. A colour rendering index of Ra80 and a luminous flux of 3150 lumens guarantees that you will not miss any spots on the walls. A tempered glass pane can endure scrubbing off dried emulsion paint while a solid design can withstand sudden, accidental contact with hard objects. The possibility to adjust the angle of the floodlight and the tripod allows you to illuminate the surface in many ways. The set includes a 2-metre cable with a plug, which help to freely manoeuvre this light helper.
4. Make sure you have additional portable light sources
Are you sure you do not want to use even the smallest professional floodlight? In that case, check out our portable desk lamps. Kanlux LED FRANCO is a good example. Why this model? Mainly because it offers the possibility of directing the light beam in various directions and changing its intensity. In addition, these lamps have simple casings with no nooks and crannies in which dust that always floats during renovation work can settle. Once the renovation is complete, the lamp can return to its place on the desk or in the reading corner.

5. Connect the "working" central lighting
You already know that if you care about the impeccable appearance of your lamps, you should remove and store them in a safe place before starting work. However, it is usually necessary to use the main lighting during painting and cleaning. So, what should you do? Stock up on luminaires with quick disconnect couplings on short wires and bulbs with high luminous flux and efficacy, for example, the Kanlux LED RAPIDv2. Such lighting elements are invaluable when plastering or painting, and when the work is finished, you can... save them for the next renovation. Be sure to stay safe!
Instead of a summary, here is our sixth piece of advice – any lamps that cannot be dismantled should be additionally protected while painting. Since LED bulbs generate only marginal heat on the surface of the lampshade, they can also be used after being covered with a sheet of rigid, transparent foil. Make sure to always check the minimum distance between the bulb and the nearest object to be illuminated. When you are finished, throw the makeshift covers into the plastic waste bin and save yourself the trouble of scrubbing the lampshades.
