4 changes to home lighting that will help you reduce electricity bills
Have you ever forgotten to switch off the bathroom light in a hurry? Have you ever failed to notice that the coffee machine is running in your absence? Has your underfloor heating given you a warm welcome in an empty flat after returning from a weekend trip? Read which of our solutions will allow you to forget about such situations and free you from surprises in your electricity bills.

1. Replace all incandescent bulbs with 15 times more economical LEDs
Do you know how much the efficiency of LEDs has increased in the last three years? If not – you're in for a big surprise. Kanlux X LED EX is a new, extremely efficient light source. It is characterised by superior efficiency at the level of 212 lumens for each Watt of power. Put simply, a 3.8 W LED bulb gives the same amount of light as its traditional 60 W incandescent counterpart. This means 15 times less power consumption and proportional savings on energy bills. Are you still hesitant? A 5-year warranty and 50000 hours of failure-free lighting – these are further strong arguments in favour of these bulbs.
2. Reduce daily wear and tear and... take care of your eyes
To take care of your eyes and your wallet, consider investing in Kanlux IQ LED LIFE. Very high efficiency goes hand in hand with low operating costs, but that is not the only reason why they are unique. They emit less blue light than most LEDs on the market – the so-called LESS BLUE effect. Remember that too much of it can make it harder to concentrate, reduce visual acuity and impair sleep quality. The quality of Kanlux iQ-LED LIFE bulbs is ensured by our 3-year guarantee and the German TÜV certificate, which was awarded to the entire Kanlux iQ-LED line.
In the range of these LEDs, you will also find some with a dimmer. This is useful when you need strong light during the day and spend the evening in the same room. You can adjust the intensity of the light and, by reducing its brightness, reduce power consumption.
3. Switch lights on and off without using your hands
Lamps controlled by motion sensors are an invention that has been seen in Polish homes for many years. Until recently, they were mainly installed outdoors, where light was needed for a short time – on the porch or by the stairs. However, you can also think about installing such lamps at home. Check out, for example, Kanlux APUS LED PIR with motion detector. It detects movement and switches on the light regardless of the ambient light intensity, so it can be used for interior staircases or corridors, or even for skirting board lighting (a very interesting application). We offer luminaires with built-in motion sensors to help you save light in places where you don't always turn it off.
If a lamp does not have a motion sensor then you can "retrofit" it with one and from the moment it is installed you are guaranteed that the light only turns on when you need it and goes out a moment after any activity within the range of the sensor has stopped. By choosing a solution with a separate sensor, such as Kanlux MERGE, you will stop thinking about switching off unnecessary lights because the device registers any movement within a radius of up to 9 metres. Importantly, you can precisely adjust the lighting time (from 10 seconds to 12 minutes) and lower the light intensity level. The latter can be particularly important when walking at night, e.g. from the bedroom to the toilet and back.
But let's go back to outdoor lighting with motion sensors for a moment. Remember that when choosing an outdoor lamp with a motion sensor, you can pick one that only starts switching on the light when it gets dark, for example Kanlux BENO LED. With this luminaire, you set the light intensity at which the lamp starts to switch on yourself, as it does not have to illuminate the facade or the path to the house when it is light outside.
4. Invest in programmers
Perhaps you would prefer to control your electricity consumption without learning how to operate new equipment? You don't want to instal more apps and value simplicity of use? Check out Kanlux STER TS-MF control programmer. Set the current time by turning the dial, choose the on and off times by moving the plastic teeth and... check if the LED indicating that the device has started working is on. You can switch the device off at any time with the push of a button. It's as simple as operating a wind-up alarm clock.
Of course, there are more advanced solutions of this type, namely Kanlux SMART. The first, and easiest to use, are the Kanlux SMART adapters. With the socket adapter, you can control (on/off function) devices without SMART functions (e.g.: an iron, a plug-in heater, a coffee machine). You can also set a sequence of actions of your choice. The basic function is on/off, but the adapter also has a built-in clock (weekly clock with a calendar), random functions and a timer/countdown function. This allows you to program different devices to turn on and off at specific times, even when you are not at home. In addition, the adapter has a function to measure the energy consumption (of the device connected to it). The second option are Kanlux SMART relays, mounted in the pattress box of a socket or switch (for example a light switch). The flush-mounted on/off relay will allow you to control plug-in socket circuits or light switches, giving them the SMART function without requiring additional wiring between them.
