How does lighting affect the efficiency and well-being of employees?
Properly designed and adjusted lighting can have a significant impact not only on the efficiency but also well-being of employees. How do different aspects of lighting affect the daily work experience? Keep reading to find out.

Natural light: a guarantee for better employee well-being
Access to natural light is not only a matter of aesthetics but also a key factor in the well-being of employees. Natural light contributes to improved mood, increased energy and better concentration. Modern offices try to maximise the potential of daylight by designing workspaces with access to windows and open spaces in mind. If you want to have natural light, but you are not able to provide enough of it in the office, go for Kanlux ACORD. These lighting fixtures are characterised by a high level of real colour rendering (CRI>90) and do not cause glare (UGR<19). The luminaires are mounted on the track and are available in two wattages - 18W and 30W. You can choose white or black, light colour and angle (standard is 60⁰, but you can replace the reflector yourself and change the angle to 15⁰ or 36⁰) depending on whether you want to illuminate a larger area or a specific workstation or detail.
Light intensity and colour: the key to productivity
The intensity of light plays a key role in daily work. Too little lighting can lead to visual fatigue, reduced concentration and mistakes while performing the tasks. The colour of the light has a direct impact on the atmosphere at work. A warm colour, close to natural light, can create a cosy and relaxing environment - not necessarily conducive to work. Cold-coloured light, in turn, improves focus but causes irritation in the long run. Finding the right balance between those two aspects is crucial to meeting the diverse needs of employees. Kanlux AVAR are luminaires with a colour of 4000K (neutral). With their modern design and high luminous flux (up to 3800lm at 40W), they are an excellent choice for the office, especially if you value quality, energy efficiency and solid workmanship.
Uniformity of illumination: reduction of visual fatigue
Uniformity of illumination is extremely important, especially when performing tasks that require precision. Shadows and glare can be a nuisance, making work more difficult and leading to additional visual strain. Even lighting helps minimise those problems, resulting in increased productivity. Make sure that you are not irritated by any sun reflections coming through the window. Also, avoid the still popular lighting with old fluorescent tubes, which strain the eyes due to the characteristic "vibrating light" or, even worse, annoying flickering when the fluorescent lamp starts to "burn out". You can replace the still popular raster fixtures with LED equivalents. LED tubes replace fluorescent tubes perfectly well, moreover, you can choose the colour and power of light, and they last up to 50,000 hours
Adjustable light intensity: greater work comfort
The flexibility to adjust the intensity of the light gives us control over the work environment. Changing weather conditions, different times of the day and individual preferences require adapting the lighting to current needs. The introduction of adjustable lighting sources allows you to adapt the environment to specific tasks and preferences of employees. If you are interested in personalisation, it may be worth choosing desk lamps in addition to the main lighting. Kanlux PREDA is a multifunctional desk lamp. It is distinguished by its high (for a desk lamp) luminous flux - up to 620 lumens. It is characterised by the possibility of smooth change of the intensity (slider) and colour of the light. A unique feature is the option of deflecting the lamp arm around its axis by 45 degrees. The lamp is equipped with a USB port to charge mobile devices. The lamp may be successfully used to illuminate almost any workplace.
Lighting in the workplace has a significant impact on the efficiency and well-being of employees. Understanding the various aspects of lighting, such as intensity, colour, uniformity, access to natural light, regulation and elimination of glare, allows you to create an optimal work environment. Investing in proper lighting can be beneficial for both employees and organisations as it helps to create conditions that support productivity, creativity and overall well-being.
