Hall lighting

Lighting in the hall is often neglected. You spend little time there and rarely care to equip it with lighting that is functional and decorative, is that right? You forget that this is the first room you see when you enter every home. You should, however, keep in mind that your hall determines how others see your home.

Hall lighting - 1

What lighting system should you choose?
First and foremost, a functional one. Whether your hall is a large connecting room or a claustrophobic corridor, you should ensure an appropriate lighting system that would match your home decor.

Spot lighting in the hall
Why should you choose spot lighting for your hall? Mostly for practical reasons. Luminaires with adjustable light direction, such as Kanlux LAURIN, make it possible to direct the light beam to the selected corner of the hall; thanks to their size and minimalist design, they can be successfully used in any room. In case of larger spaces, you should consider Kanlux ACORD ATL1 luminaires. They are mounted on rails, which allow the light beam to be adjusted according to your immediate needs. Larger areas can be effectively lit using e.g. Kanlux SEMPRA luminaires, which are suitable for both ceiling and wall applications.

Hall lighting with motion detector

Another important aspect is the switch. In the hall, we usually spend little time, but we look into it quite often, and that is why it is worth choosing luminaires switched on with a motion detector. Kanlux ORTE LED will be perfect as a central source of light in small rooms. A motion detector can also be used in larger lighting arrangements for halls, for example, composed of several ceiling light fittings switched on independently of one another.

Mirror lighting in the hall

A mirror is an inseparable element of the hallway equipment. How to illuminate it effectively? If you value minimalism, Kanlux ASTEN LED linear wall luminaire that can be mounted above the mirror is a perfect choice. It has built-in SMD LED light sources the lifetime of which is at least 25,000 hours. Led lighting is definitely the best choice as far as the hall is concerned. You should, however, pay attention to the colour rendering index (CRI) of the light source, which determines its ability to render colours. It is best to choose lighting systems with a CRI equal to or greater than 90. You will see and appreciate the difference when you check how you look just before going out.

Wall lamps in the hall

It would seem that wall lamps have become a thing of the past, but it is not easy to find a more versatile luminaire for a room in which it cannot take up too much space, and at the same time it has to be adjusted to the activities that are performed in it. It is hard to find a better solution than Kanlux TONIL LED. It is a simple wall lamp with an integrated source of light. Its elastic rubber arm makes it possible to direct light in the desired direction.

Lighting in a narrow hall
If there is a narrow corridor behind your door that leads to more rooms, you may choose a single ceiling lamp that lights up the entire area by diffusing the light. Kanlux AREL LED will be the perfect choice in such circumstances. It is a frameless downlight fitting. Its high tightness class IP65/20 and simple design make it suitable to any interior. It is only 9 mm thick and, therefore, it is the thinnest ceiling lamp available on the market. Hall lighting arrangements made of several such fixtures produce a wonderful decorative effect and, at the same time, do not take up much space.

Lighting adapted to the time of day
Open spaces enjoy great popularity. There are no distinct boundaries, and the hall smoothly passes into the living room or kitchen - it is a fashionable trend that optically enlarges a flat or house. This type of hall needs to be lit as effectively as the rest of the home.  We shouldn't forcefully separate it from the rest of the room with light. We can choose the same fixtures that are used in the room with which it is connected. We should also keep in mind that at night, the hall can still be used for communication purposes. In such a case, it is enough to add lighting mounted on the walls, e.g. Kanlux TERRA. These fixtures are also available with a motion detector, so you won't have to remember to turn them off at night.

In conclusion, regardless of its dimensions, the hall is a showcase of your home and, therefore, it is worth thinking through how to arrange lights in this part of your home. First and foremost, you should take the function this room performs into account: choosing an outfit before going out, checking the condition of your shoes, or packing various necessary things. Don't forget that an aesthetically pleasing lighting system in your hall creates the first impression visitors have of your home.
